Shane Rutherfoord-Jones was born in Durban, South Africa and grew up playing in bands, writing songs and producing electronic music. He first combined music and drama with the Queens University Players, for whom he scored stage plays for live ensembles. He was awarded “Best Sound Design” for his score to Himmelweg by the Irish Student Drama Association. He is interested in a wide variety of musical styles and idioms.

Graduating from the prestigious Royal College of Music with a Master’s degree in Composition for Screen, Shane has worked with the Cubbyhole Theatre Company, composing the music to accompany their production of James Saunders’ After Liverpool in the award winning Rosemary Branch Theatre, London. Also in 2015, Shane worked alongside film composer and conductor Alastair King to workshop and record works with symphony orchestra. His most recent project, the short film Italian Miracle, was selected to be screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Prize for Best Short at Stonybrook Film Festival. Shane was nominated for “Best Original Score” for Italian Miracle at LAIFF April. He recently composed additional music for Mattel’s Welcome to Monster High.
